Why timing matters
Text accuracy is only half of a subtitle file.
A correct sentence can still be a poor caption when it appears late, lingers over a scene change or becomes too long to read. The CastTranscript editor lets you play from each sentence timestamp, correct the text and inspect the cue track before export.

Retention and limits
Large video goes through a private media path.
Video sources can be much larger than the audio required for transcription. CastTranscript removes the original video after 24 hours. If a later MAI refine pass needs extracted audio, that audio can remain for up to 72 hours and is held through the job plus a final 24-hour window.
Sentence-timed SRT and VTT remain available when word timing is missing. The editor discloses that limitation instead of manufacturing word alignment from a second speech model.

Which video formats can I convert to SRT?

Should I upload a draft or the final video?
Use the final cut whenever possible. Changes to the video edit can move every subtitle cue, even when the transcript text stays the same.
How long is the original video stored?
The original video is removed after 24 hours. Extracted audio needed for an optional refine workflow can be retained for up to 72 hours.
Can I also download the transcript as text?
Yes. The same private project can export SRT, WebVTT, plain text and Markdown.
